At Borneo Exotics, our mission is to make extraordinary Nepenthes available to growers around the world — and to do that, we rely on a carefully chosen network of retail distributors who share our passion and values.
But we don’t work with just anyone. And there’s a reason for that.
Our Plants Deserve the Right Partners
Every Nepenthes cultivar we offer begins life in our own micropropagation lab — disease-free and vigorous. But producing a world-class plant doesn’t stop there.
All our plants are fully weaned before leaving our facility, meaning they have been taken out of sterile lab conditions and acclimatised to our nursery environment, with a healthy root system beginning to develop. This ensures they are robust enough for export. However, they are shipped bare-rooted and still as young plants, which means a certain level of experience is essential to grow them on successfully.
Some of the plants we supply are so rare, they are now extinct in the wild. That’s why we only supply to established carnivorous plant nurseries with the facilities, knowledge, and commitment to maintain the quality and integrity of these exceptional plants.
Whether you’re purchasing newly weaned plantlets or larger specimens, we want to ensure our Nepenthes go into expert hands — not only for the sake of your customers, but for the long-term success of the species themselves.
Why We’re Selective — and Proud of It
All Nepenthes are listed under CITES Appendix II, meaning international trade is highly regulated. We’re the most experienced exporters in the industry when it comes to handling this paperwork, but it’s not a process we take lightly — and neither should our partners.
By keeping our distributor network focused and professional, we safeguard the health of our plants, honour the conservation story behind each one, and protect the trust placed in us by growers, botanical institutions, and breeders alike.
Who We Don’t Supply to — and Why
As much as we value the passion of individual growers, we are only able to supply plants at the wholesale level to established carnivorous plant nurseries.
This means we do not sell directly to:
- Individual growers or hobbyists
- Groups of collectors, clubs, or societies
- Start-up businesses or newly formed ventures without an established track record
We make this distinction with great respect for these communities — many of us started out the same way. But our commitment to the health, traceability, and long-term success of our plants means we need to ensure they are handled by professionals with the facilities and experience to grow them on properly after shipment.

1. Submit Your Application — and Demonstrate You’re Ready
We only supply to established specialist nurseries with proven experience in growing carnivorous plants. As part of your application, we ask that you provide documentary evidence — such as photos of your growing facilities, website or social media links, proof of business activity, and relevant business registrations — to show that you have the infrastructure and expertise needed to successfully grow and sell Nepenthes.
Because all Nepenthes are protected under CITES Appendix II, we’ll also work with you to complete the required export paperwork and advise on any import permits your country may require.
2. Browse & Order
Once your account is approved, you’ll gain full access to our extensive online catalogue with three convenient ways to order:
• Purchase newly weaned lab-grown plantlets, ideal for the mass market and ready for you to grow on.
• Choose from an extensive list of nursery-raised plants.
• Or bid on special items via our periodic online auctions, featuring particularly rare or larger, sought-after specimens.
